Dracones Hic Sunt(1)

D had been trapped by love.

Well, trap was certainly not the best word to describe what happened between the kami and Leon.

Of course, D had pushed Leon so that the police officer would find himself in his own world, and not where D was heading. In spite of all his knowledge, D wasn't sure that his dimension wouldn't act as a poison on Leon, and he'd rather know that the man he'd come to love was alive, even if he was in a totally different world, and they couldn't be together.

D was forced to leave.

He didn't want to.

There were too many pets to care for.

There was Chris.

And Leon.

Leon had woken up in the hills, miles away from town. He'd walked and found a road where he was picked up by a patrol car, and his colleagues brought him to the hospital. Those episodes were a blur, but Leon had chatted with the officers who had found him, and Jill shared with Leon what the policemen had told her when she came to see him, and he was coherent enough.

Slowly, Leon remembered how and why he had ended up in the hospital this time.

He was not ready to admit it aloud, but he had fallen head over heels for his annoying D.

When Leon slept, he dreamt of D. Leon's heart and soul refused to go on living in this world if it meant that he would be alone. In fact, Leon felt even more empty than before he met D. Leon felt like it was as if a piece of his heart was simply missing.

Somehow, it must have been true, because D heard Leon's soul calling for him.

One day, Leon was finally sent back home. He was sent back home because there was no doctor who could find the reason why the detective was wasting away before their eyes.

Jill drove him back to his apartment, and she ordered him to rest - he was on extended leave and should make the most of it. She made him promise that he'd take good care of himself, but she was feeling very sad when she left, leaving him staring blankly at the television screen.

Days went by, and Leon weakened.

What would he do now if D wasn't there to drive him crazy over trifles, if D wasn't there to squeak with delight when Leon found a new kind of cake, if D wasn't there to smile?

Leon was not ashamed to cry his soul out, he was way beyond all that macho bullshit. All he knew was that he would end up living all alone. Leon felt like he'd been condemned to jail in his own apartment and in his lonely life.

If he got lucky and wasn't shot to death doing his job, he could end up living over six decades with ice freezing his heart, and a feeling of void seeping where his soul should be.

One day, Jill found him weeping on the sofa, and she simply understood it all.

'Why don't you go and see him?' she whispered softly, trying to soothe him.

'I don't know where he is,' Leon had managed to say, before he resumed crying on his friend's shoulder.

Jill forced Leon to eat a bit, and then lulled him to sleep.

When she got out of his building, the wind brought her the unmistakable whiff of D's exotic incense. She followed the trail and found D hiding in the shadows.

She raised her hand to slap him, but reflected that it wouldn't be efficient with that particular man.

'If you can't go upstairs and see him, I guess we'll meet again at his funeral. I hope this is farewell, Count,' and with those words she turned around, leaving a stunned kami on the street.

'Take good care of my friend. I love him,' Jill murmured into the night.

She opened her car and drove away before she started crying like Leon.

She never heard D answer, 'I will, Miss Jill, for I love him.'

All the doors opened before D, and soon he found himself kneeling by Leon's side.

The detective was crying in his sleep.

D caressed Leon's hair, and the blond woke up. He looked at D, and thinking he was hallucinating, buried his nose in his pillow.

'Keiji-san(2)?'

'Go away! Loneliness is awful enough! I don't want to end up drooling on padded walls,' Leon said into his pillow.

'I heard you, Leon. I heard your silent calls. I came back to you. I'll stay, even if it means that I'll die from it,' D whispered in Leon's ear.

Leon jumped with surprise and sat on his bed. D found himself kneeling between Leon's spread legs.

'I don't want to lose you, even if it means that I have to leave everyone and everything behind,' Leon said.

Tears rolled down his hollow cheeks.

D simply took him in his arms.

Leon left all his possessions in his apartment. The only thing he and D took with them was the drawing Chris had made of them all.

Leon took one minute to scribble down a note for Jill - a note that she burnt as instructed as soon as she'd stopped crying. He told her that he was going to travel with someone she knew, and that he would contact her when it was safe to do so. Jill wasn't stupid: D was on the run, and Leon was going into hiding with him.

Leon accepted D's rules, and they both left the country, thanks to extremely well made fake passports. That was the last time Leon got to see D in Occidental clothes.

As soon as they landed in Paris, D and Leon were welcomed. They disappeared under new identities into the local version of Chinatown. They did not often leave the thirteenth district where D had opened a new pet shop; to Leon, it looked as if the pet shop had travelled with them - and maybe that was the case.

They could enter the shop through the avenue (up the escalator, on the left, between the two department stores), or through the residence and down the mall. No one seemed to wonder about the shop, and only people who had business with D found the door.

D never really explained why he'd had to leave, and why they had to hide now that they were working together. Leon understood that it was linked with D's nature and with D's relatives.

Leon understood, without words, that if he wanted to keep enjoying the Chinese pastries he found in the little shop across the avenue, and which always made D smile, Leon had to accept D's way of life.

Soon, Leon became reasonably fluent in Chinese, and one day, as he walked past the last shop down the mall, he saw a simple brown cheongsam. As was usual in that shop, there was no tag attached to the item of clothing, but when Leon entered the shop, drawn in by some mysterious force, the owner recognized the alien who was sharing quarters with Count D, and Leon bought the item for a reasonable price. From that day on, Leon dressed like D - only with less elaborate materials.

When they explored the town, people usually thought that both men were some kind of priests.

Leon was happy.

D had contacted people he knew in the States, and he had given Leon news from his relatives and Jill. Somehow, D had hinted that Miss Jill's new kitten, and Chris's puppy, would make sure that their masters were always safe, and Leon had smiled and hugged D.

In the spring, D arranged for the both of them to enter the Jardin des Plantes before the gates were open to the public, and they found themselves all alone to admire the ancient cherry trees that were in bloom - seeing those without a horde of people around was a rare privilege.

Leon sat on the bench under one of the trees, and the small petals fell in his golden mane.

D brushed Leon's hair.

Leon didn't have to voice his love for D to hear it.

Leon was beaming. He was happy. He was in love with D.

D leant towards Leon, and their lips met.

For the both of them, it was the best kiss they'd ever experienced.

When the gates opened, they left the garden and walked back to their nest.

They had spent so much time together that they needed few words to communicate.

D had always known that he preferred men, but he knew that Leon had everything to discover, and they took one step at a time. Together.

Though they were living under the same roof and slept in rooms that had a communicating door, until that first kiss, they had merely been sharing space.

Leon and D started dating, which broke many hearts in their district, though it made their neighbours smile happily each time they spotted them. Leon and D were beaming.

Their souls were buds which were opening and transforming thanks to their love.

One day, at tea-time, Leon looked at D, and the flower of their souls fully bloomed.

D dropped the white and blue fine-bone China lid which he was using to push away the green tea leaves floating in his cup onto the thick, soft carpet, because he had felt Leon's wish echoing into his heart, and the kami answered that Siren call.

Leon was ready to make love with the man who had slowly insinuated himself in every cell of his body like a drug and permeated his soul - or so it felt.

Never taking his eyes off Leon, D had deposited his cup onto their table, held his hands out and led Leon towards his bedroom.

When they reached D's door, Leon was forced to chuckle: the shop had just merged their two rooms, and it had given them a huge bed in which to make love.

Leon blushed when D brought a pot of cream that would serve as lubricant.

'It's been a long time since I last bought condoms - and I've left them in the States. I could go to the chemist's across the street if you tell me what I should ask for in French,' Leon said.

'We don't need any of those, Leon,' D whispered gently. He was perfectly aware that his lover-to-be must be a bit tense about all this, but he had to be reminded with whom he was about to make love. 'There is nothing in my nature which might contaminate you, and I know that you are perfectly healthy, my sweet love.'

'H... how?' stammered Leon.

Then, he remembered. He remembered cutting his right forefinger on some stupid sheet of paper, and D licking his wound clean - and healing it!

D had tasted him, and he knew.

Well, Leon reflected that he had always been very careful, and since he had become sexually active after that awful virus had spread all around the globe, it was only logical that he was clean - besides, he'd never been that interested in taking many women to his bed. Come to think of it, some of his colleagues wondered why he'd never tried anything with Jill.

Leon looked at D and gasped: he'd simply been waiting for the love of his life.

D.

His own annoying deity, without whom life wasn't worth living.

D smiled and said, 'This is a blessing that I can worship you fully. Now, if you prefer that we use condoms nonetheless, I'll go and buy a box.'

Leon took D's face in his hands and pecked his lover on the lips.

'If you were a normal man, I'd send you out to shop with no hesitation, but we'll never be a normal couple. Make love to me the way you want,' Leon said.

D shivered.

Leon undid his collar frog, and D affectionately batted Leon's hands away. If D wanted to unwrap his present, Leon wouldn't spoil his lover's fun.

D took off Leon's outer robes and made Leon take off his slippers. D forced himself to slow down when he reached Leon's shirt, not because Leon was unsure or showing signs of awkwardness, but because D knew that he had to control his own impatience.

Too soon for his taste, D took off Leon's shirt. Leon felt as if his love was giving him wings. Leon took D in his arms and kissed him. Leon loved to feel the silk of D's cheongsam against his skin, and D thought that the smoothness that was Leon's skin under his palms could not even be compared with the feelings that the rarest sweet elicited in him.

D blinked when Leon stopped kissing him because the - in theory - inexperienced blond had divested him of his cheongsam and sleeveless tunic without his noticing it.

Their trousers fell to the floor, and D slid onto their bed and invited Leon to join him.

'Have you done this often?' Leon asked in a murmur, and blushing.

'Twice,' D admitted.

Leon nodded silently.

Blushing even deeper, Leon said, 'I don't know what to do, but I'm yours.'

D caressed his Leon and began kissing him. There was not an inch of skin that D didn't kiss and lick with love. By the time he had fully charted Leon's body, the blond was purring shamelessly; he felt like a boneless heap of dough under D's tender hands.

D decided to do to his lover what he hoped Leon would do to him when he became comfortable enough with the physical aspect of their relationship. D spread Leon's legs and knelt between them. Leon held out his arms, and D leant towards his lover to kiss him with passion; then D teased Leon's nipples, his navel, and he finally reached his goal. D licked Leon's pulsing shaft as he gently rolled Leon's balls in his hand.

Leon whimpered, grabbed the silk sheet and thrashed his head.

D was absolutely fascinated with Leon's head because he was cut. Each time D licked the velvet-soft head, he teased Leon's slit to collect the drop of precum that never failed to gather there. D liked following the purple-blue, throbbing vein under Leon's shaft with his tongue, up and down, and up again to collect the precum. D felt that Leon was close to climax, so he swallowed him entirely in one swift movement, and Leon didn't have time to wonder why no one had ever done that to him before. He felt the head of his prick being swallowed and sucked and licked, as D feasted on that part of his body.

When D hummed, Leon had no time to warn his lover. He exploded, climaxing in D's mouth.

Leon was still floating on some happy and comfortable cloud, when he finally felt D's lubricated finger rubbing something up his arse, something he had never heard of, something that sent high-voltage shocks throughout his body, something that was arousing Leon again.

Leon opened his eyes, and there was so much love in D's mismatched eyes that Leon felt like laughing and crying at the very same time. D was more important than his own life, and Leon fully understood it then: life without D was unthinkable, a heresy.

When Leon was fully erect again, D offered him the most erotic show Leon had ever seen. The kami scooped some cream in the pot, and he prepared himself to be taken by Leon.

Once he was satisfied, D lubricated Leon's shaft, and he positioned himself above his lover. Slowly, he knelt down and impaled himself on Leon.

Both lovers' breath itched.

Leon caressed D's hips, and D leant to give him a kiss. The delicious friction that movement elicited made them both moan with pleasure.

D resumed his position and started riding Leon, whose right hand slid from D's hips to his dick. Though D was different from him, Leon thought that his wanking experience would come in handy. Leon learnt fast not to tease D's foreskin too much, and when an ounce of blood reached his brain, Leon took some cream to massage D's leaking shaft, which made the kami whimper.

Leon was mesmerized by the sight of D above him, and he enjoyed the feeling of D around his dick - so hot and tight and silky.

D felt complete - at last.

Neither could last long, and they came. D was brought over the edge by Leon's hand and shaft; Leon by D's spasming around him.

They intertwined their fingers, and D rested on Leon's chest, while he was still connected with Leon.

Without words, Leon professed his love, and so did Count D.

Their first time together had the unexpected and unwelcome consequence of heralding D's presence in Paris, and the kami felt some of his relatives spot him and make their way to him and his human lover.

On the following day, D and Leon left.

They went to Madrid, Rome and Cairo. Each time D felt someone might catch up with them, they left.

Leon didn't mind. His life with his lover was the only important thing. He wouldn't object to daily changes, if they were the only way to guarantee their safety together.

D and Leon's life changed radically, and for good, when they went to London.

D opened yet another version of the pet shop in the British capital.

They'd been there for some months when, on a rainy day, Leon helped a man who gave them hope.

The child of that man, who was an actual wizard, was to be given a Kirin, and its arrival heralded the presence of the lovers who fled with the wizard to Scotland.

That encounter was a blessing, because the village where Leon and D opened their new pet shop welcomed them. Nobody paid attention to the way they dressed, because the entire community there was wearing robes, and nobody gave a damn if they were in love, because gender preference were not an issue for them. It was so well accepted in that community, that they had even discovered ways for same-sex couples to have children.

Leon and D benefited from that, since a magical gift allowed D to become pregnant with his and Leon's child.

On top of it all, there were spells that guaranteed that no one could ever find the lovers. Their shop was protected and could be found only by people who intended to buy a pet. Their new friends had even offered to shield the couple with a spell that made them invisible to people who had no real business with them.

D's grandfather walked through the village soon afterwards, but he never found them.

D knew that he would have been happy to see him and Leon so happy, but he couldn't risk the wrath of the other members of his large family.

The lovers decided to send a letter of some sort back home.

They had Chris's drawing framed, and one of the witches added a spell that would reveal their exact location only if the person who took the frame wished them no harm. A huge bird took the present to the shop where Leon had first met D. The kami was sure that his grandfather would get the message.

The lovers had caught the last post on a Saturday evening, and they quietly strolled back to their home, the place where no one would ever come to bother them or try to separate them. The place where their son would grow up - for they had been told that D was carrying a boy.

As soon as Leon closed their door, he spotted in his lover's eyes that particular light which he knew announced that D was horny.

Leon had read all he could find about magical male pregnancies, and he was delighted that D suffered exclusively from one symptom. D experienced no morning sickness or mood swings, and besides his usual love for sugary products, he had no strange cravings. None of that. D just needed to make love - quite often. Leon was always happy to comply.

When D saw that Leon had understood that he needed him, he blushed.

D was happy that he was the one making their son, but he was embarrassed to have such an appetite for his companion's attentions.

Leon gave him such a tender kiss that D forgot why he was feeling slightly guilty but five seconds earlier.

Leon invited D to lean on the back of the sofa that was in the parlour. Leon undid the frogs on D's cheongsam and knelt in front of his lover.

Leon allowed himself to briefly caress D's nipples, which were becoming more sensitive day after day, then he untied the cord that held D's trousers just an inch above his belly, that was ever so slowly starting to fill with the life of their son.

D was already fully aroused.

Leon kiss D's navel, the tip of his shaft and his thighs.

Thanks to a lot of practical abuse on innocent bananas, Leon deep-throated D in one go. One move to and fro, and D was already cumming.

Leon swallowed D's seed and gathered his lover in his arms. Their lovemaking was not over yet; being pregnant was making D very hungry and resilient.

'Would you care for a naughty bath, my love?' Leon asked, knowing perfectly well that D would agree.

A boneless D nodded and was carried by Leon into their huge bathroom, where the magic of the shop combined with the magic of the village had taken care of drawing the water. The tub was filled with water at the perfect temperature, and unnaturally big and rainbow-coloured bubbles were being made at a steady rate.

D was tenderly deposited into the tub, and Leon undressed in no time.

'What would you like?' Leon asked.

Leon deciphered the feral grin in his lover's eyes. He knew that he was in for a rough ride.

The blond joined D in the tub, and gave him their lubricant.

D had taught Leon to prepare himself, but Leon knew when D wanted to tease his prostate with his fingers before buggering him.

Leon knelt and offered his arse to D.

The blond grabbed the edge of the tub. By the time D was satisfied with his preparation, half the tub had been spilled onto the bathroom floor, and there was a colony of bubbles stuck on the ceiling.

Leon didn't need to turn around to know that D was ready to penetrate him.

D's eager fingers were replaced by his shaft, which he slowly buried deep inside Leon.

There was a song in Chinese that D particularly liked, and Leon sang it softly, adding to his companion's pleasure. D took hold of Leon's hips and set a steady rhythm in his pumping in and out of Leon's tight channel.

When Leon sang the last verse, D snaked a hand to Leon's erect member.

The last note announced their climaxes in unison. Leon spilled his seed on D's gifted hand and milked D's shaft as the kami was balls deep inside of him.

Leon felt himself grinning.

Life was finally good.

They had found a place that was the ultimate refuge.

They were a family.

And their lovemaking was fantabulous.

Some months later, D delivered a healthy boy.

From the moment he was born, it was obvious to everyone - even in the unusual community that had adopted them - that Draco Orcot was a special child.

It soon became obvious that he would look like his father D, but he had the eyes of his father Leon.

A few weeks after the birth of the boy, D's grandfather paid them a visit, and he blessed his great-grandchild. He cryptically said that he couldn't stay for long with them because he had to take care of D's successor, and he promised that in some years, they would understand.

Leon and D did understand when Chris found them as he was looking for them - with his own kami.

The two young men decided to stay with D and Leon, and to help them with Draco's education. D and Leon were sure that Chris and his D would wish to imitate them and have a family.

There was so much magic and love around them in that haven that the happy parents felt that that wish would be granted when the younger men would be ready.

There was no place like a place impossible to find on a map to wish for, and find, dragons - be them of the flying kind, or of the kind driving their parents crazy.

At last, the Ds and the Orcots lived happily ever after and were never found by those who might wish them harm.

Songs were sung.

Bubbles flew - in lovemaking... and when they bathed their children.

They were surrounded by every form of magic.

The strongest was called Love.

1. On old maps, some cartographers wrote "Hic sunt dracones" (Here be dragons) on the parts that were unknown to them. I couldn't resist changing the word order to speak of the haven I'm giving to D and Leon.
